Night at the Races
A favorite Walnut Meadows tradition. 12″ hoagies (Italian, Ham, Tuna or Turkey), chips, cake, coffee & hot tea. Desserts always welcomed. Sign up in the Library to choose your hoagie.
After a winter that, in the President’s words, packed quite a wallop, the Meadows are shaking off the cold — flowers up, neighbors out, and the social calendar back in full bloom. This issue carries you through both months at a glance, with featured events, the full activities lineup, and a warm look at spring around the community.
Dear neighbors and friends —
Winter packed a wallop this year, especially January and February — good riddance! Hopefully the warm sunshine, the blooming flowers and plants, and everyone being able to get outside again will help us all turn the page on what was a long, cold stretch.
Thankfully, all of our committees have been working very hard to give us things to do. The Social Committee has lined up Night at the Races on April 18, the Ladies’ Tea & Fashion Show on April 26, and the Mother’s & Father’s Day Breakfast on May 16, with Spring Shuffleboard, Bocce, and a great deal more close behind. Look for details in this newsletter, in the Library, and in the monthly reminders — it really is the best way to get to know your neighbors.
We’re already getting ready for the upcoming WMCA Board of Elections, and Harry Braun has generously volunteered to chair the Nominating Committee. As always, you put the active in an active over-55 community — please get involved.
Sign-ups, menus, and payment envelopes for all three are kept in the Clubhouse Library.

A 30-year tradition, in honor of new ladies of Walnut Meadows. Dress up — perhaps even a hat — for finger sandwiches, a table laden with desserts, and a fashion show featuring Sherry’s Rustic She-Shed of Telford.
Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, fresh fruit, Danish, breads, bagels, coffee, tea, and orange juice — all the makings of a slow Saturday morning together.
A two-month roundup of clubs, classes and casual gatherings — nearly all run by neighbors, for neighbors. Sign-up sheets and envelopes are kept in the Library; check the Clubhouse bulletin board for time changes.

The forsythia is the first to break. The dogwoods follow, then the redbuds, and by the time the bocce courts are dry the daffodils have already finished their first act. The pond has its early heron back; the goldfinches are turning yellow again. If you’ve been hibernating, this is a good week to take the long way home.
Walking paths circle the pond and connect to the clubhouse. Benches are placed at the quiet corners.
Happy spring to you all — and many thanks to everyone who renewed their memberships or joined for the first time this year. If you haven’t yet, you can still renew at $20 per person; new members may join for $20 per person as well.
Complete the membership envelope kept in the Clubhouse Library, make checks payable to WMCA, and drop the envelope in the wooden box.
Per person, per year. Members enjoy full access to events, special pricing, and free entry to the Mother’s/Father’s Day Breakfast.
The dumpster is not for public use. Please don’t drop items in or around it without first getting permission from the office. For bulk disposal, call Republic Services.
Check under the hood of your car for squirrel nests — they can chew through wires. Squirrel repellents are available to spray under the hood and in the wheel wells.
Please update your Yellow VMSC card and put it on the refrigerator. And make sure your house number is visible from the street. Reach out to the office if you need help.
Time to ready our pool for a fantastic summer. Sunday, May 17 at 11 AM — many hands make quick work and new friends.
We’re also looking for Pool Aid volunteers — pick one day a week, all summer. Duties are simple: bring umbrellas down, put toys away, straighten up the area, switch off the music, and close the gate. Sign up in the Library; any help is appreciated.
SEPTA passes, notary services, and information. A free service worth taking advantage of.
Address your card with a name and address, then place it in the black file cabinet. Our team will deliver it. New team members are always welcome.
Just over $800 raised — all of it supporting programs within the community. Big thanks to Pauline Braun for organizing and to the entire committee for a wonderful afternoon.
All 30 team slots have been filled. Total cost is $115 for the season ($20/month April–August; $15 in September), payable monthly or as a one-time payment in April. 75% of proceeds go to winning participants; 25% to the Association. Numbers will be drawn Monday, April 6 at 6:45 PM, just before the monthly meeting.
Recently our flagpole was at half-mast in memory of our neighbor Joseph Dalton (February 2026).
On Memorial Day, Monday, May 25 at 9:30 AM, please join your neighbors for the annual flag-raising — followed by coffee and donuts in the Clubhouse. This time-honored tradition will be carried on this year by Bob Veglucci.

Celebrating a family event? The Clubhouse can be rented through the office. Set-up and clean-up must happen the same day as your party.
Browse books, puzzles and DVDs in the Library, and check the bulletin boards by the office and in the hallway for “Around Town” events and Buy/Sell/Swap items.
Save the date: Saturday, October 17 (rain date Sunday, October 18). Committee meetings start in June, every first Tuesday at 11 AM.
Stop by the Clubhouse to flip through photo albums of past Social Events, trips, the Ladies’ Tea, the Cookie Exchange and more — a quiet trip down memory lane.
Thank you to members who provide treats for our monthly meetings — your kindness doesn’t go unnoticed. And special thanks to the Block Captains who delivered the Meadowlark through January’s cold and ice.
The Meadowlark is dedicated to informing residents of social, entertainment and educational activities, along with general news of a positive nature in the Walnut Meadows community.
